Council Services

This group has been created to work in coordination with the rest of BMSLG groups to try to improve the quality of life and services provided for the Muslim communities in Bristol. We give support and advice to Bristol City Council regarding projects, policies and opportunities that would benefit our communities, on the other hand we aim to break the silo and being different representatives of our diverse communities together in order to strengthen our voice and representation.

Our current and past projects

  • Negotiating faith spaces in public areas in Bristol
  • Offering mediation and give a voice for Muslim communities.
  • Taking part in Representing Muslim communities in the Post Covid-19 steering groups.
  • All members of Council area of work is actively involved in their respective community and the wider society in Bristol aiming to improve lifes and ease hardships and impact of Covid-19 as much as possible.
  • Organised and helped in running Bristol's first Muslim Conference.
  • Helped in editing the Muslim in Bristol Booklet.

Our future projects

  1. Hold an annual conference for Muslims in Bristol.
  2. Support the council in extracting important information about Bristol Muslims from the Census in order for BMSLG to release a report about it.
  3. Cooperate with mosques to accommodate lady trustees and organise a working group for them.
