The Structure of the Bristol Muslim Strategic Leadership Group
The BMSL Group comprises of a 3-part structure:
Executive Committee
Strategy Group
Task Groups
All play different roles and are designed to work together in order to meet the overall aims and purpose.
Executive Committee - The role of the Executive Committee is to be responsible for designing the overall direction, structure and focus of the work of the BMSLG. The Executive Committee works closely with the Strategy Group.
Strategy Group - The Strategy Group is concerned with developing long-term strategy for improving the position of Muslim communities in Bristol. The Strategy Group will work with the City's Leaders to develop targets and outcome measures to ensure that Muslims in Bristol are accessing opportunities and reaching their potential.
Task Groups - The Task Groups are made up of members of BMSLG with specific skills, expertise or interests in those areas. They are designed to focus on specific areas of work and can be externally focused or internally. Sometimes Working Groups are set up which go across the Task Groups to deal with specific issues, for example, we may wish to do an Eid campaign and so members from across the Task Groups may have specific skills for this issue.
There are quarterly meetings for the BMSLG Strategy Group. Meetings are half days depending on the Agenda. From time to time, the Strategy Group may choose to meet more frequently, for example, to address a particular issue.
Specific task-groups have additional meetings in order to achieve their priorities or actions. They report back to the Strategy Group at each meeting and have their own nominated Chair from the Executive Committee and relevant membership from the NHS, Bristol City Council, Avon & Somerset Police and Bristol University.
