The policing task group is dedicated to improving the lives of Bristol’s Muslims.
Through cooperation with our key statutory partners of Avon and Somerset Constabulary, we will strive towards openness, and transparency by working hand in hand with our communities. We will improve policy and practise, under the spirit of understanding.
As the Co-Chair of the Policing Task Group I am passionate when it comes to matters of faith, as well as policing. It is my view the two are linked, with Justice being a key principle of Muslim belief.

BMSLG regularly communicate with senior leaders with in Avon and Somerset Constabulary, as well as the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. Here we share our identified issues and concerns, as well as provide messages of solidarity, and support to our local Constabulary when needed, such as during the large scale Public Disorder in Bristol during 2021.
The Policing Task Group will continue to work for Bristol’s Muslims.
Since its inception the Policing task group has worked towards our goals, and will continue to do so. Examples of our work include Bristol's first Policing survey with a focus on the views of Muslims in the area. With this piece of work BMSLG has partnered with both the University of Bristol, as well as our key Statutory partners in order to ensure Muslims across the city are given the opportunity to contribute to change.
The Policing task group has also demonstrated its solidarity to Bristol’s refugee communities through contributing to BMSLG own “Welcome to Bristol” video which was keenly supported by Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
