I am Mohamed A Sayaqle, Chair of research task group, as part of our mission on BMSLG, we have developed Research Task Group, which comprises members of BMSLG from different profession, gender, age and life experience from Muslim community in Bristol.
We identify research which is important for our work to explore specific issues or challenges affecting on our community, build knowledge and provide depth of understanding on the issues that impact Muslims and wider community in Bristol. The Research Task Group will give volunteering opportunities for young Muslim graduates to work with our team, apply their knowledge and improve their experience of working and engaging with research. If you interested to know more about this Task Group, please feel free to contact me or other members of BMSLG on [email protected] |
We believe research is important for us also to identify, navigate and understand challenges and pressing issues for Muslim communities in Bristol, give them an opportunity to address or contribute understanding to specific issues that effect to their livelihood. The Research Task Group has led and contributed to the Muslims in Bristol Booklet and Directory as a resource for schools, organisations and visitors to Bristol. In partnership with Bristol University, we are currently conducting research to explore perceptions the Muslim communities, especially young people, have about the police. The aim is to provide insight about views of Muslim communities in Bristol about policing work of Avon and Somerset police, priority issues for community, underrepresentation, stop and search for young people from Muslims and BAME background and other relevant issues. It will feed into policy and practice at Avon & Somerset Police. |
