The Official Video of the Bristol Muslim Conference 2023! The fully booked Conference held at the Seat Unique Stadium at the Gloucestershire County Cricket Ground. The Conference on Saturday 4th November opened with a prayer and one minute silence for the victims of the Isreal-Palestine war. Keynote speeches were kicked off by PCC Mark Shelford, Dr Wajid Akhter from the Muslim Council of Britain and Azeem Rafiq the former Professional. He spoke of his journey and the racism he faced but also the way he has found his calling to help people achieve their dreams. Baroness Sayeeda Warsi spoke of the significant part British Muslims play in society. This was followed by a lunchtime Q&A session by the Baroness on the Israel-Palestine war. Participants were able to contribute their views through the five Diamond 9 Workshops and then treated to a gourmet lunch. The afternoon session consisted of a Panel session with local doctor Asha Mohamed, Omer Khaliel from Riba Foundation and Mohammed Sayaqle from the Somali Youth Forum. The winner of the challenge question 'If I was in charge of Bristol, I would...' was Fasiha Husseini winning a hospitality box for 10 people for the New Zealand vs England Women's game next season!! All in all, it was a fantastic event. Thank you Bristol! Look out for the Conference Report which we'll publish on this website once complete. See images from the 2023 Bristol Muslim: As the 2023 Bristol Muslim Conference lies closely ahead, please take a read of the report from our annual conference last year. We have worked hard with the Bristol, North Somerset and South Glouctershire Integrated Care Board (ICB) to create a leaflet which gives advice and contact details for people who can help, in the sad event that a Muslim baby passes away. This is a sensitive time where as much support as possible is needed and without a clear source of information or help available at the moment for our community, we sought out the ICB to create this material. We hope that it is of benefit for our community.

Race & the City 2 events built on the momentum and success of the previous Race & the City Conference in late 2019. Click here to view footage from Race & the City 1 This year’s series of free events has been produced to ensure we engage with a wide range of stakeholders and community groups throughout the city and beyond. During this annual programme Bristol City Council facilitated discussion and engagement and share key learnings as well as discuss current / future priorities through the delivery of 5 specialised themed events. Ours was the 3rd such event. Race & the City 2 - A Focus on Muslims in Bristol and their Diversity Thursday 9th December 10:30am - 12 noon This event will showcase the contribution of Muslims in Bristol and how Muslims are proud Bristolians. The event also aims to shine a light on the challenges that Muslims face as Bristolians and how sometimes the multiple and diverse identities of race, ethnicity, religion and gender end up being a source of disadvantage rather than a fountain of opportunity, insights and potential. We will present case studies of Bristolians who have made a mark on Bristol despite the challenges and draw on audience participation to help find solutions to overcome the issues so we can make sure that Bristol get the best out of all Bristolians!
